Oracle and IBM are building native XML indexing capabilities into their databases. But, how long will it take SQL Server 2005 to have these features? Maybe version 2010?
As we all know XML has been adopted in a huge way across our industry!
Unless there's some hidden features that nobody has really discussed, SQL Server 2005 is already behind the competition!
Sure, SQL Server 2000 had an add on that allowed some XML usage, but really, it was so limited that you could only send it 8000 characters at a time (as parameters)!
Who wants to have to write to a temporary file in order to send XML to SQL?
Where's the integration?
